Austin is starting to get quite again as UT whirls into dead days and finals. Its alway odd to see that transition. Shlep made an interesting point the other day when I said, hey that person looks familiar, "We've been here for five years, everyone looks familiar." I guess thats true, its weird to see that 5 years of my life have gone by. My god so much has happened, its as if I've been in a war the whole time. Even now I'm not out of enemy territory, you never know which sniper may have his scope trained on you.
So yea also today I finally got MechAssault and Inside Drive 2K3. I haven't really had a chance to play either of them beyond half hour each but they both seem really amazing. My little TV just doesn't do MechAssault justice, that game has stunning physics and visuals. I mean the self-shadows, particle and watter effect, and sound (yea even with mono) are just amazing. I can't wait to play some more MechAssault because the story line is remotely compelling and the game play is just fantastic. And then Inside Drive, that game is pretty damn realistic when it comes to player models, ball physics/handling/sound, and overall physics (human+ball). The speed and finesse of the characters on screen really seems lacking. For example collisions don't happen when limbs and torsos collide but more like icebergs colliding where players intersect with each other at an invisible boundary a few feet out from the player. Need to get in more game time though. It'll be good when finals will be over.
